FAQ

Installation and Removal

How do I put the nails on for best results?

1. Cut your cuticles. File and wash your natural nails. Make sure there’s not any residue on them. Tip: you can file the top of your nails a little bit to create a rougher surface for the glue to stick on but make sure you wipe off the excess nail dust.

2. Find the correct size of nail for each finger by “dry-fitting” them. If the size is not quite right, you can carefully file the ELIA nails.

3. Start from the pinky fingers and work your way to your thumbs. Leaving your index finger and thumb last makes it easier to place the other nails.

4. Place a small amount of glue on your natural nail and on the ELIA nail. Make sure the glue covers the entirety of your natural nail.

5. By holding from the tip of the ELIA nail, place the nail on your natural nail by pushing it lightly under your cuticle.

6. Make sure the ELIA nail is straight and press firmly with a clean paper towel from the top and both sides to make sure there’s no air left under the nails. The paper towel helps to clean off the excess glue that might come out from the sides.

7. If your natural nail is left peeking out from the side, you can carefully file it to tie in with your ELIA nail.

8. You can also carefully file the sides of the ELIA nails to make them more round. This way the ELIA nail "merges" smoothly on your natural nail. IMPORTANT: Filing might harm some of the nail designs. Please test filing with an extra nail you will not be using.

9. Keep the leftover nails and glue for any replacements you might need.

10. Go be your best self!

How long do ELIA nails last?

This depends largely on two factors: the glue you use (the strength varies a lot between different brands) and what you do with your hands (e.g. sit in class vs. renovate your home)

Generally, we like to see about 2 weeks of hassle-free wear from ELIA nails. After that, you might want to keep an eye on them to see if the glue starts to dissolve for easier removal. At this point, you can add a little bit of glue from the side or pop the nail off, file off the old dried glue and put on a new nail.

Of course, if you keep good care of your ELIA nails and remove the dried glue from them, you can reuse the nails again and again!

What if the nail size is wrong?

ELIA nails can be carefully cut and filed to be the exact size for you.

How do I remove the nails?

You have a few options here!

Your nails will start to loosen when they are ready to be removed. This is the best time to remove the nails. Usually the base of the nail near the cuticle is the first spot to start lifting. If the nail lifts, lightly push it up around the edges with fingernails.

If you need to remove the ELIA nails while they are still firmly attached, you can try soaking your nails in a mixture of warm water, dish detergent and olive oil to weaken the glue

The last option is to soak your nails in acetone or (nail polish remover with acetone). However, this method can damage the ELIA nail.

PLEASE: Don’t force the nail off as it’s not needed and can damage your natural nail!
